Cuban Entrepreneur Builds Cybersecurity Platform After Two Major Setbacks

Luis Teijon, a Cuban immigrant, started his tech company Teisoft with his wife in the U.S. with nothing. He warned his wife on their happiest day that they had to be prepared to start over, a prophecy that would soon come true.

Their first venture into tech services, focused on recruitment, failed due to inexperience. They pivoted to software development and cloud infrastructure management. By 2021, Teisoft landed a seven-figure contract, seemingly securing their stability.

However, this success was short-lived. An email on a Friday afternoon informed them their major client had suspended the project indefinitely due to a board change. Without warning or technical fault, the rug was pulled out from under them.

To avoid total bankruptcy, Teijon had to lay off more than half of his team, a devastating blow for any leader.

The company barely survived, but further challenges arose in 2023. A divergence in business visions with his partner led to a difficult separation. This split involved dividing clients, assets, and the team, forcing Teijon to start from scratch once more.

“Losing a big client leaves you breathless,” Luis recalls. “But rebuilding a company after a business breakup forces you to question absolutely everything.”
